This series of paintings range from 2003 - 2010 in large & small formats. The connection they all have is my inspiration from family photos. I trace the elements of the photos out and create them again into a new composition, with poignant reflections on life, desire, regret and the whole mass of human emotions & situations.
In elementary school the pledge of allegiance was a much photographed event. A mix of patriotism, national history, boredom and tiredness, complicated feelings about one's country -- these photographs bring back all those feelings, and for me, a good place to create anew.
