These objects start to come to life every time I travel between Chicago and Oaxaca.
Nuestra Señora de los Chochos is based on objects from my childhood. A broken angel that used to have a place in my family's Nativity Scene, with an aureole made from my mother's denture, surrounded by old homeopathic medicine jars that my Dad had in his doctor's office.
Every object has a past, a life, a memory. Bringing them together is a reflection on the loss of a loved one, the changes in life, our destiny and our faith that life will continue.
